Troy Fir – The Rare Tree from the Land of the Trojan War

In northwestern Turkey lies the Ida Mountains – one of the few regions in the world with exceptionally high oxygen levels. Here grows the Troy Fir (Abies equi-trojani), named after the legendary ancient city of Troy, which is located very close by. A tree with a history.

Closely related to the Nordmann Fir, the Troy Fir is significantly more resilient: It withstands heat, drought, and biting cold equally well – and can grow 20 to 30 meters tall under ideal conditions. A rare tree species that you won't find in any garden center.
