Large-leaved Lime – Symbol of Love, Bee Paradise & Tree of Centuries

The large-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos) is deeply rooted in our culture: as a court linden, village center, and symbol of love, kindness, and hospitality, it shaped life in German villages for centuries – and can be found in countless poems and folk songs. No wonder, as it can live up to 1,000 years, grow 40 meters high, and reach a trunk diameter of up to three meters.

Its fragrant blossoms are a valuable nectar and pollen source for bees. Linden blossom tea has been used since the Middle Ages for colds, respiratory diseases, and fever. The soft wood is suitable for pencils and fine turnery.
