Judas Tree Seeds

Judas Tree – Orchid-like blossoms directly on the trunk & ecological hit

The Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum) is a real eye-catcher: its orchid-like, pink-purple blossoms grow directly from the trunk and branches – even before the leaves emerge. This makes it one of the most spectacular early bloomers in the garden and a valuable food source for insects and small animals when other plants are still dormant.

The blossoms are edible – raw as a sweet-and-sour salad decoration or pickled sour as a spice. The very hard wood with beautiful grain is used as sought-after veneer wood. The tree grows slowly and forms a broad, slightly umbrella-shaped crown – a long-lasting garden treasure.
