Interesting facts about elder

The black elder (Sambucus nigra) is one of Europe's most versatile cultivated plants – a remedy, food source, and ecological powerhouse all in one.

• Blossoms: fragrant, edible, as syrup or tea for fever & colds
• Berries: rich in vitamins A, B & C as well as potassium – as juice or jelly (do not eat raw!)
• Formerly used for dyeing fabrics and food
• Important food plant for bees, butterflies & birds
• Magical medicinal plant since pre-Christian times – with a long history in folk medicine

How it works

Press seeds into the soil, water – and let grow. After nurturing, you can plant the bush directly with the compostable pot into the ground or a larger container. The pot decomposes without residue within 12–24 months. Your plant roots freely and undisturbed.
